Special luggage
Here you will find information about what applies when you travel with, for example, a bicycle, skis, sports equipment, golf bag, or other baggage that exceeds the normal checked baggage. Current prices for special baggage can be found here. Please note that we can only accept a limited number of special baggage per flight. Special baggage beyond this capacity cannot always be confirmed.
Important about special luggage
Stroller
-
Infants (0–2 years): 1 stroller can be checked in at no cost
-
Children over 2 years: stroller counts as one piece of checked luggage
The stroller:
-
must be foldable
-
must not weigh more than 20 kg
-
must be submitted as special baggage
-
must not contain any other luggage
The stroller must be packed in protective packaging, e.g., PramPack, Airshells, or equivalent. Plastic bags only protect against dirt and are not considered sufficient protection.
Car seat
Infants (0–2 years) can bring a car seat as checked baggage at no cost. If you would like to take the car seat into the cabin, the child must have their own seat.
Please note that car seats are generally unsuitable for transport in the aircraft's cargo hold, even if they are packaged. When transported as checked baggage, our liability is therefore limited.
Bicycles can be taken on our flights, but are not included in the baggage allowance and must be booked separately.
The bicycle must be packed in:
-
hard bicycle case, or
-
padded bicycle transport packaging (e.g., bicycle suitcase or bicycle bag)
If the bicycle is not packed in an approved special packaging, it will only be accepted on a space-available basis, which means it may be sent on a later departure.
Preparation for transport
-
The pedals must be removed
-
The handlebars must be turned inward towards the frame
-
The chain and hubs must be covered
-
We recommend letting some air out of the tires to reduce the risk of damage
Diving equipment is counted as a checked baggage item, provided that weight and size limits are adhered to.
Diving equipment is defined as:
-
empty diving tank
-
regulator/hoses
-
harness
-
manometer
-
diving mask
-
two fins
-
snorkel
-
knife
-
safety or life jacket
No prior notification is required if the equipment remains within allowed limits.
A golf bag can hold:
-
up to 14 golf clubs
-
12 golf balls
-
one pair of golf shoes
Golf equipment is considered special baggage and must be booked separately.
Weapons are never included in the baggage allowance and must always be booked as special luggage.
Important to keep in mind:
-
the weapon must always be presented at check-in
-
valid weapon license is required
-
the weapon must be unloaded
-
bolt and ammunition must be packed separately
-
ammunition must be in original packaging or equivalent protection
-
max 5 kg ammunition per person
-
ammunition must not be packed together with the weapon
You also need to fill out a weapon declaration.
Here is the form for your weapon declaration.
If you are traveling with weapons to or from the United Kingdom, special permission is required in advance.
Checked Instrument
You can check in your instrument according to the following rules:
- Maximum weight: 20 kg
- Maximum dimensions: 120 × 110 cm
- Packaging: The instrument must be packed in a hard case to ensure safe handling.
Please note that instruments exceeding the allowed weight or size may incur an overweight fee according to the applicable ticket rules.
Instrument in the cabin
Smaller instruments can be taken on board as carry-on luggage within the following limits:
- Maximum dimensions: 55 × 40 × 23 cm
- Maximum weight: 8 kg
The price for carry-on luggage follows the regular ticket rules.
Extra seat for instrument
If the instrument is too large to be counted as carry-on luggage, it can be taken in the cabin by purchasing an extra seat.
- Maximum weight: 75 kg
- Maximum dimensions: 120 × 30 × 45 cm
- The instrument must be able to be secured with a seatbelt.
- It must not extend above the back of the seat.
You can bring one or two pieces of ski equipment, with a total maximum weight of 20 kg. Skis are not included in the regular baggage quota and must be booked and paid for separately.
One set of ski equipment can include:
-
